It’s not technically Spring just yet, but it sure is starting to look like it in Nashville. The annual Cheekwood in Bloom event kicked off over the weekend and the whole estate is alive with color. Right now, vibrant yellow and white daffodils dot the landscape all around Cheekwood. Mixed in are pansies, crocuses and a few cherry blossoms. Noticeably missing for the moment: Tulips! But not for long. The tulip buds are out and Cheekwood officials tell me it won’t be long before they pop open, filling the gardens with even more color.
Over the next month, thousands of visitors will make their way to Cheekwood to see more than 150,000 blooming blubs. “Cheekwood in Bloom is one of the most magical times to be at Cheekwood, as tulips, daffodils and flowering trees spread color all throughout the gardens,” said Peter Grimaldi, vice president of gardens and facilities at Cheekwood.

This year, it isn’t just the new blooms getting people excited. The new, two-acre Bracken Foundation Children’s Garden opened to the public over the weekend. The garden blends art with nature throughout an interactive and educational outdoor experience that celebrates Cheekwood’s legacy through play and discovery.
Designed with families in mind, visitors can explore private garden rooms, secret nooks, hidden spaces and water features, including a Turtle Pond, Wishing Well, Art Studio, Living Library, Labyrinth, Adventure Walk, and Little Woods designed especially for toddlers.
“With the addition of our new world-class Children’s Garden we can’t wait to welcome the community to come and enjoy the spring weather in one of Nashville’s most beautiful settings.”

Cheekwood in Bloom will also feature many visitor favorites including a Beer Garden with live music on the weekends, art and garden workshops, wellness activities, painting and much more. Cheekwood in Bloom goes through April 5th, but there are many more exciting events to come. Families can also enjoy Dogs and Dogwoods, April 18th and 19th and the Spring Art Hop, April 10th and 11th. Then, Chihuly at Cheekwood begins April 25th and runs through November 1st.
