Cheekwood is back and more beautiful than ever. The gardens opened back up recently after being closed down for months because of the pandemic and visitors are in for a huge treat. Chihuly at Cheekwood was set to open back in April, but had to be delayed. Well, it’s worth the wait. The sculptures are absolutely gorgeous, day or night.
While it may be a few months since you’ve been out to the historic estate… Chihuly fans have had to wait ten years to see this spectacular exhibit again. The last time it was here was back in 2010. The installation comes as Cheekwood celebrates its 60th anniversary.
During the day, visitors can see the brightly-colored glass contrasted with late summer foliage and beautiful blooms. At night, the installations truly come alive, lighting up nearly every nook and corner of the estate.
It’s almost impossible to pick the best ones, all of them create blazes of color around the gardens. My personal favorites are the two boats filled with vibrant glass balls and twists.
If you haven’t seen it yet, you don’t want to miss it. Chihuly at Cheekwood and Chihuly at Night are going on through January 10th. Starting in November, you can see Chihuly along with the annual Holiday LIGHTS wintertime show. You can see Chihuly during regular hours during the day, or Thursday – Sunday evenings from 5pm – 10pm.
